A dental assistant should not be confused with a dental hygienist that is licensed to do lots of dental clinical tasks. Although there may be some cases that the job of a hygienist is sometimes confused with what the dentist does, they are each different. Different licensure is necessary for different professions. Although a dental assistant requires a shorter period of training compared to a dental hygienist and dentist, the fact is that more and more dentists are now looking for assistants to aid them with their everyday jobs. Thus, it is now an in demand and a well paying job that every dental assistant wannabees will look forward too.

The positive thing about being a dental assistant is that you can further enhance your knowledge without going back to zero. If you want to continue your education to the next level such as becoming a dental hygienist or even a dentist one day, it is very possible. There are even authorities that provide assistance to needy students and they will assist them with their education. The important thing that everyone should realize is that, if you want to reach for more or not, being a dental assistant is already a rewarding job that you should be proud of by doing your responsibilities to your best at all times.
